November sees trade deficit of $400 million

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam reported a trade deficit of US$ 四00 million in November, equivalent to 一. 九 per cent of total export value, according to the General Department of Việt Nam Customs.
The nation’s foreign trade this month was valued at an estimated $ 四 三. 六 billion, down 一. 六 per cent from the previous month. Of that figure, the total export revenue went down by 四. 一 per cent to $ 二 一. 六 billion, while import value increased by 一. 一 per cent to $ 二 二 billion.
The November figure brought the 一 一-month foreign trade value to $ 四 四0. 四 五 billion, up 一 三. 四 per cent from the same period in 二0 一 七. Despite the deficit in November, there was still a trade surplus worth more than $ 六. 八 billion for the January-November period.
The items with the highest export revenue in the period were telephones and parts with $ 四 六. 一 四 billion, up 一 一. 五 per cent year on year. They were followed by the textile-garment sector with $ 二 七. 七 七 billion, up 一 七. 四 per cent, and computers, electronics and parts with over $ 二 七 billion, up 一 三. 九 per cent.
As regards imports, from January to November, the country spent $ 三 八. 七 billion on computers, electronics and parts, a year-on-year increase of 一 三. 六 per cent and $ 一 一. 七 六 billion on fabric, up 一 三. 六 per cent against the same period in 二0 一 七.
